EXPR DESIGN & EVAL ACCESS TECH (H581). Semester: Spring 2024
Project 1: Web Accessibility Evaluation
By Sachin Kawa (skawa@iu.edu)
About assignment:
The assignment involved identifying accessibility problems on the SHEIN website and providing recommendations for improvements. Three major issues were identified: missing alternate text for images, missing form labels, and empty links. For each problem, solutions were proposed along with relevant WCAG 2.1 guidelines and success criteria.

Performing this accessibility evaluation was an important exercise in understanding the critical aspects of web accessibility and how they impact users with disabilities. It required a close examination of the website's elements and an understanding of how they interact with assistive technologies like screen readers.

Addressing accessibility issues is not only essential for ensuring compliance with standards and regulations but also for providing a better user experience for all visitors, regardless of their abilities. By implementing the recommended solutions, SHEIN can enhance the accessibility of its website and make it more inclusive for all users.

This evaluation highlights the importance of considering accessibility from the design and development stages of a website and continuously monitoring and improving accessibility practices to ensure that everyone can access and interact with digital content effectively.
